Digital Citizenship

Overview

One of our district's chief missions is to see that students are literate and responsible users of technology. In addition to providing specific instruction in technology applications, it is our responsibility to educate our students about appropriate online behavior as well as cyberbullying awareness and response. The resources here are to empower our students, teachers, and parents with information about digital citizenship and cybersafety.

Students in grades K-8 utilize Learning.com's Easy Tech curriculum for lessons on Online Safety and Communication.

OnGuardOnline.gov is the federal government’s website to help students be safe, secure and responsible online.  The Federal Trade Commission manages OnGuardOnline.gov. OnGuardOnline.gov is a partner in the Stop Think Connect campaign, led by the Department of Homeland Security, and part of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, led by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Netsmartz is an cybersafety site maintained by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

NoBullying.com is an online forum aimed at educating, advising, counselling and all importantly, helping to stop bullying, in particular, cyber bullying.

Using resources from these sources and others, we have developed a cybersafety course for our high school students.
